Leeds City Region LEP

Leeds City Region LEP develop strategy and policy that’s aimed at meeting both the current and the future needs of our region’s economy. We also deliver projects that support businesses and accelerate growth.  The LEP promotes and represents the whole of the City Region’s interests to influence government policy-making and attract talent and investment to the region.  YLP is represented on the Leeds City Region Skills Network by Alex Miles.

The Northern Skills Network

The Northern Skills Network is a partnership of nine regional networks spanning the North of England who work together to ensure the FE & skills sector developments, reforms and policies are shared across the North of England, that all regions can respond effectively, and all our member organisations are fully supported.  Collectively we work with all the LEPs across the north, along with chambers of commerce, northern powerhouse, AELP and the wider FE sector stakeholders.

YLP are represented on the board of the Northern Skills Network by Alex Miles & Ruth Triggs (YLP Chair).

Northern Powerhouse

Yorkshire Learning Providers (YLP) are delighted to receive ministerial approval to become a member of the government’s Northern Powerhouse Partner Programme.

We strongly believe that apprenticeships are the key to social mobility, improved productivity and enhancing the quality of lives for young people and adults and we look forward to promoting and celebrating achievements by YLP and the other NPH partners across the North

York & North Yorkshire LEP

We work with York & North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership to help unlock economic growth, work with businesses to start-up and grow and develop skills providers offer and provision.  York and North Yorkshire is a vibrant, diverse and resilient economy, with a driving ambition for transformation. Our world renowned historic and cultural assets shape our urban spaces, whilst the scenic beauty of our vast rural landscape and northern coastline define our place as one of world’s most recognised regions. Strengthening all of these assets is the passion and pride of our people, making York and North Yorkshire a truly distinctive place.

The Education and Training Foundation

The role of the Education and Training Foundation is to support the continuing transformation of our technical and vocational education system by ensuring the sector has world-class leaders, teachers and trainers. In turn, this leads to ever-improving learner outcomes, provides a better skilled workforce for employers and creates a stronger economy, country and society.

YLP have worked with the ETF on many project and collaborative activities, including OTLA, English & maths and research practitioner.  YLP sits on the on the ETF / DfE Prevent Working Group.

West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges

The West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges operates on behalf of seven Joint Venture Colleges in West Yorkshire.   The West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges uses research, industry and socio-economic reports and Labour Market Intelligence to support bids for funding and inform the direction of our skills projects. 

YLP & WYCC have worked collaboratively together since they were launched and WYCC is represented on the YLP Board of Directors as an Associate Director.

Amazing Apprenticeships

YLP work with amazing apprenticeships to deliver the Support & Knowledge in Schools (ASK) project across West Yorkshire. The ASK project is funded by the National Apprenticeship Service, part of the Department for Education. The programme is designed to give schools, colleges and other educational establishments across England free support to develop and transform how your students think about apprenticeships.

YLP has delivered ASK interventions to over 300 schools in the last 3 years.  We also work with the Young Apprenticeship Ambassadors and apprenticeship champions.

AELP

AELP is a national membership organisation supporting the FE & Skills providers with policy developments, lobbying and working with Government & sector officials to ensure all members are up to date on policy, reforms and issues that affect the sector.

YLP are represented on the AELP Strategic Group by Alex Miles.

WorldSkills UK

WorldSkills UK is a partnership between businesses, education and Governments that accelerates young people’s careers giving them the best start in work and life.  This is achieved through three core programmes:

Directions – Delivering inspiring careers advice through events, role models and careers advice resources.

Champions – Competitions drive up technical and employability skills and we showcase these at local, national and international levels.

Accelerate – Research, thought leadership, new tech competitions and using insight into training and employability skills from key global economies to inform new employer programmes.

YLP sits on the WorldSkills UK ITP Advisory Group – the main aim of the group is to encourage more ITP’s to get involved in WorldSkills UK.

The British Army

The British Army protects the United Kingdom’s interests at home and abroad, providing a safe and secure environment in which all British citizens can live and prosper.

North Yorkshire County Council

We also act as a champion and spokesperson for North Yorkshire and its people. We represent and promote the interests of our county in the wider Yorkshire and North-East region, in the whole of the United Kingdom, and abroad. 

York & North Yorkshire Combined Authority

York & North Yorkshire Combined Authority (YNYCA), oversee governance and development in York and North Yorkshire. Led by an elected Mayor, YNYCA focuses on economic growth, transport, infrastructure, housing, skills development, and environmental sustainability. It aims to boost the local economy, improve connectivity, ensure affordable housing, enhance workforce skills, and promote green initiatives through collaboration between York and North Yorkshire councils.
