Governance and Leadership
All funded providers should have good governance, but each provider will have a different view on what this means, YLP can work with you to develop and implement a good governance framework that meets the needs of your business and provides the critical challenge and oversight expected by Ofsted and funding bodies.
Below we have given an oversight into what aspects ‘Governance’ should cover.
The YLP support services will provide onsite development and desk-based support and ongoing monitoring of your Governance and leadership arrangements so that it covers all areas.
YLP can help providers evidence that their SMT & Board / Governance have awareness of and can confidently communicate your governance framework.
YLP has developed a Good Governance health check which training providers can use to help identify areas for enhancement in their governance and board arrangements.

- Ofsted
- Finance
- Quality
- Safeguarding and Prevent
The YLP support services will provide onsite development and desk-based support and ongoing monitoring of your Governance and leadership arrangements so that it covers all areas and providers can evidence that the SMT & Board / Governance have awareness of and can confidently communicate:
- All areas of the provision
- Improvement strategy & vision
- Challenge staff & learners to excel
- How to narrow achievement gaps
- Effective & credible plan, understood by all, on how to achieve success and areas for improvement
- Challenge data on success
- Keep learners safe from extremism
- Promote to staff & learners the values of well being & being healthy and staying safe
YLP has developed a Good Governance health check which training providers can use to help identify areas for enhancement in their governance and board arrangements.
YLP works with AELP to promote and disseminate the AELP Good Governance code of practice. YLP can support providers by onsite visits or desk based review of arrangements. YLP can attend one or more board / governor meetings to gain an insight and offer suggestions for improvement.
