Yorkshire learning providers

Contracts, Research and Projects

YLP are committed to supporting smaller training organisations to access funding in order to support local employers, young people and adults and we have managed several funded contracts as part of a consortium with small local training organisations.  Over the years we have managed in excess of £37 million of government funded contracts across Yorkshire, with funding bodies including LSC, ESFA, ESF, NAS, LSIS & ETF.   The contracts include the delivery of Apprenticeships, Traineeships, Adult Education Budget as well as quality improvement initiatives.

YLP work with local delivery partners for their teaching and learning expertise but take full responsibility for the management, data, quality, performance, tracking, monitoring and communication for the contracts managed.

YLP have worked with the ETF across a number of quality improvement themes including OTLA, Prevent, digital skills, training modules and the Research Development Fellowship (RDF) programme.

YLP are currently running the Apprenticeship Support & Knowledge in Schools (ASK) programme across West Yorkshire, engaging with over 100 schools to promote apprenticeships and raise awareness to young people, teachers and parents.  Please click here for more information about how YLP supports the promotion of the Apprenticeships brand within local schools.

Key business priorities that support the education and skills sector and the local communities we serve:

Green & Sustainable Development Ambition

This ambition is in the format of a pledge that we are encouraging all members & FE organisations across Yorkshire to sign up to. The ambition (pledge) has 4 core pillars.

Social Mobility Toolkit

We were involved in the development of the social mobility commission’s apprenticeship toolkit during 2021 which highlighted the ways we can all use apprenticeships to promote & improve life chances for those from the most disadvantaged & hard to reach communities and area.

YNY LSIF Research & Sector Skills for North Yorkshire initiative

The "Sector Skills" contract for North Yorkshire is part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund's (UKSPF) People and Skills Programme. It is designed to support workforce development across critical industries, aiming to enhance economic growth in the region. The focus of the contract is to deliver sector-specific training to businesses and their supply chains, particularly in five priority sectors: Agri-tech, Construction, Digital & Creative, Health & Social Care, Manufacturing. All which closely align with the LSIP skills priorities, benefited from our research for the LSIF. The Yorkshire Learning Providers were selected as the main provider for this initiative, tasked with helping businesses build workforce skills within these sectors, which are seen as critical to North Yorkshire's economic future.

Pride in FE

We were fortunate to be successful in the call for EDI Projects for the ETF. Our challenge was to address LGBTQ+ inclusion in the sector. As we have not only created CPD sessions we are in the throes of developing a bank of resources for the sector, a LGBTQ Inclusion toolkit for FE providers and a member’s charter.

Skills Connect

We have been successful in securing funding from WYCA’s new adult skills framework, Skills Connect, to support growth in recruitment and engagement for health & Social Care employment & training across West Yorkshire.

Employer Engagement Project

We are delighted to announce that we have been successful in securing funding from DfE to further engage SME businesses in Apprenticeships; in order to develop & grow the take up across West & South Yorkshire. The Employer Engagement Project will target SME's who have not engaged in apprenticeships for over 24 months across a range of sectors that have been identified by the department as priority growth areas
